Marc Jacobs

A genious fashion designer
The head designer for Marc Jacobs and the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs.
The Creative Director of  Louis Vuitton.

Jacobs was born on April 9, 1964 in New York City. He attended Parsons, studying fashion. When he was a college student, Jacobs designed and sold his first line of hand-knit sweaters.

In 1986, Jacobs designed his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label. With his first collection, he started to come into the spotlight. In 1987 Jacobs was the youngest designer to have ever been awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

After being recognized for his genius, Jacobs joined Perry Ellis with Duffy in 1989. However, his s/s collection in 1992 was so difficult and unfamiliar that he was turned away by both the public and the fashion world. Eventually, his attempt made him resign the position of Perry Ellis designer.

However, he succeed in coming back by showing new collection in 1994. He established Marc Jacobs International Company with Duffy. In 1997, Jacobs was appointed as Creative Director of luxury French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, where he created the company's first ready-to-wear line. Jacobs has collaborated with many popular artists for his Louis Vuitton collections. As of 2010, Jacobs remains the Creative Director for Louis Vuitton.
